ReWiLink -Ensuring data link resilience and reliability
ReWiLinkTM is a system consisting of two or more communication units (nodes) and a controller capable of switching between two different communication protocols.
The first protocol possesses an error rate threshold and a fixed data rate, whereas the second protocol possesses a higher error rate threshold and a data rate that is not fixed. By shifting between these two protocols, the controller is able to reconfigure the signal and data units of the first protocol by treating them as secondary modulation symbols that can be rearranged and sent as a metapacket in accordance with the settings of the second protocol.
The controller detects the increasing error rate and reduces the transmission rate gradually by using the header information of the first protocol as signaling units, while trying to re-establish the connection in the event of signal interference, disruption, jamming, etc. In this way, ReWiLinkTM creates a new link whose control information is more robustly encoded. This capability of ReWiLinkTM mimics the graceful link degradation of analogue systems since the data rate does not go to zero abruptly.
Consequently, ReWiLinkTM preserves your digital connection in the face of interference or jamming, in contrast to common systems that collapse due to the rate cliff that occurs whenever the control information cannot be decoded. Moreover, ReWiLinkTM provides the side benefit of extending the range capabilities of your system due to a more resilient and robust data linkage.
